Art and Culture in Austria

We love to travel to foreign countries and learn about the local culture. But Austria, our home country, also offers a lot to be discovered. If you’re interested in art and culture, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for what to do in Austria this summer in our Kulturkompass.

Cultural Destinations

The Kulturkompass Austria 2022 lists 130 cultural organizations from the fields of visual and performing arts, cinema, music, history, and many more, all of which are part of our platform.

We present one program highlight per province, in some even several! Included are Museum Liaunig, Schönbrunn Group (Schloss Hof Estate), Swarovski Kristallwelten, Schloss Rothschild, Opera in the Quarry, Secession, and many more.

The Kulturkompass is available in print from selected partners as well as digitally.

Culture Tips in Lower Austria, Carinthia, and Tyrol

There’s a lot to discover, so here are a few highlights: How about a trip to Schloss Hof Estate, for example? Stroll through the impressive baroque garden, stop by the petting zoo, or visit the ongoing special exhibition “Treasures of the Imperial Table” and imagine how opulent meals were served at the Imperial Court back then.

Carinthia is usually associated with summer, sun, and vacations by the lake – but that’s not all! Art and culture lovers also get their money’s worth here. At Museum Liaunig in Neuhaus, the collections of Herbert Liaunig are presented in changing exhibitions. Among other things, you can see portrait miniatures, glass, and silver, as well as African gold and glass bead art. We also recommend taking a stroll in the large sculpture park!

Keep an eye out – from July 27 – August 3, you have the opportunity to win 2×2 tickets for the Museum Liaunig on our Instagram account as part of the Kulturkompass. So let’s get going!

Further west, the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Tyrol, invites you to a breathtaking spectacle. The fantasy worlds designed by André Heller impress with their architecture as well as with unique installations by well-known artists. These can be found in the garden and in the 18 Chambers of Wonder and all revolve around Swarovski’s famous crystals.
