Visit the Prague Castle

If you’ve ever wondered which castle complex is the largest one in the world – it’s the Prague Castle. It used to be the home for Bohemian monarchs and emperors, now it is the official residence of the Czech president. This fascinating 9th-century castle is set on the top of the hill above the Vltava river, overlooking the whole city of Prague. There are a few spots inside the Castle complex that you must see, such as the Old Royal Palace – once used by Czech princesses, and later by the King or beautiful St. Vitus Cathedral – one of the most popular sights and the most important church in the Czech Republic.

Walk the Golden Lane

Another amazing sight inside the Prague Castle is the amazing Golden Lane – a small, charming, cobblestoned street. It’s lined with very colorful, over 500 years old houses, that are as much of an attraction as the Prague Castle itself. These houses were homes to the residents back in the days, and today they house numerous exhibitions and little shops. The street is named after the King’s alchemists, whose goal was turning metal into gold. They actually never worked here, but the kingdom’s goldsmiths did. Also, Franz Kafka lived here for a while, on the number 22.

We consider the Golden Lane to be one of the most beautiful streets in Europe – check out this blog post for more.
